Easy and Healthy Spelt Bread Recipe
Here's a quick and nourishing spelt bread recipe that is both delicious and minimally inflammatory. With few ingredients, including no eggs and dairy, this bread is both delicious and easy on the stomach.
Ingredients
Ideally all the ingredients are organic and the water should be from a clean source.
- 500g of organic white spelt flour
- 1tbsp of organic, unrefined sugar
- 2tbsp of organic coconut oil
- 1tsp of sea or himalayan salt
- 1tsp of dried yeast
- 300ml of water
Making the Dough
Pour the flour into a bowl and mix in the yeast, sugar, and salt. Melt the coconut oil in a pan (if needed) and add it in with the water. Mix everything together and knead until you have a relatively smooth, non-sticky ball of dough.
Leave the dough in a warm place for an hour or so, until it rises noticeably. Make sure to cover the bowl with a plate or a damp cloth, to prevent the dough's surface from drying out.
Baking the Bread
Once the dough has risen, preheat your oven to 200C. Put some non-stick baking paper in a loaf tin (or another baking dish of your choice), place the dough inside the tin, and bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
The longer you bake the bread, the crispier the crust will get. The level of crispiness you desire is your choice, just check on the bread occasionally as it's baking.
The bread is ready when you tap the bottom of the loaf and it sounds hollow. You may wish to let the bread rest for 15 minutes or so before cutting into it. Enjoy!
